Our English language lessons provide daily instruction from specialist English teachers. Our structured classes are designed to practice camper’s core skills including grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and listening skills with an emphasis on improving camper’s confidence in spoken English.

Our teachers are selected for their ability to bring out the best in all campers and our interactive syllabus ensures lessons are engaging, fun and significantly improve camper’s ability.

Style of Teaching

At Camp Cooper we believe that it is critical that campers have a positive environment for learning. We make sure this happens by creating an atmosphere where it is normal to make mistakes, campers learn together, campers enjoy themselves and feel relaxed.

Our qualified teachers will teach campers the class curriculum through games, songs and activities. We make sure that campers enjoy their learning experience and have fun in the classroom environment. Our teachers constantly encourage and motivate the campers and give them individual attention.

English Levels

On the first day of Camp, each camper’s English level is assessed. This means that they will be able to learn with others who are at a similar stage.

At the end of every week, teachers re-assess each camper to see if they have made sufficient progress to move up to the next class.

Classes for Beginner Campers

Our beginner English classes use a fun, creative approach to learning. We combine traditional teaching methods with the use of activities such as:

• Games
• Songs
• Drama

One of our key aims of this class is to motivate and inspire our campers. This approach ensures campers receive individual attention from the teacher, improve conversation skills through group work and are eager to learn more.

Classes for Intermediate Campers

Our intermediate English classes help campers progress their English language skills and increase their confidence. We continue camper's development to increase camper's confidence in conversational English. We focus on teaching campers to be able to speak multiple sentences at a time and learn to move from basic sentence structures to more complex ones. Activities will include:

• Games
• Songs
• Producing a newsletter
• Interviewing people
• Producing a music video

Classes for Advanced Campers

Our advanced syllabus provides a successful blend of opportunities for campers to use and develop their English. Our advanced class focuses on refining campers spoken English with an emphasis on improving their public speaking. The class will use complex English language vocabulary and is ideally suited for campers who are already comfortable with conversational English.

This class is particularly helpful for young people wishing to study at an English speaking school or university. Campers are taught to communicate complex sentence structures and arguments. Our classes carefully combine individual and group work with creative activities such as:

• Producing a Camp newspaper
• Debate
• Song writing
• Planning events

English Immersion

Camp Cooper is  run entirely in English, so campers have maximum opportunity to use their new language skills with their new friends. Campers will learn just as much English outside of the class room and will be speaking English for the entirety of their time at Camp Cooper.
